HAPPY NEW YEARS FAM

As we approach the New Year,
remember that it is just another day...

Do not forget that the same opportunity has been presented to you just as it has all the days before and after this one to make a positive change in your life for the better... Be it mentally, emotionally, financially and or physically...

So use the winter solstice to go deep within and truly analyze what you want and need, What you should and shouldn't be doing, getting and achieving. Stand in the mirror and forgive who were yesterday and take a personal inventory of yourself....

Make a list of your pros and cons and then plan to enhance both... Figure out where are you lacking and what you lack... there IS a difference.... then make your resolution a daily mantra to move forward each day to be better than you were…

Be Happy, Be Safe and Be Wonderful You…..
HEY... I got faith in you ♥

RYAN’S HOPE

RYAN’S HOPE

A Benefit for Ryan Burbank

Saturday, November 17, 2012

7pm -11pm

Maplewood Woman’s Club

Ryan Burbank is an 18 year old Maplewood resident who became paralyzed from the chest down after a backyard pool accident on July 1st. He had an emergency operation that fused parts of his spinal cord and then over two months of therapy at the Kessler Institute. Ryan now is back home with his parents, Carolyn and Eric, and his two brothers. He faces many more months of therapy and care.

Ryan is a former member of the Columbia High School lacrosse team and has been a volunteer around town, including with the South Orange Elks and Hilton Neighborhood Association. He also worked at Village Trattoria and Village Burger. Ryan’s dad, Eric, is the Director of Maplewood’s Department of Public Works.

Friends of the Burbank family are undertaking the November 17th benefit to assist with the purchase of a wheelchair van, alterations to the Burbank’s home, and other items that Ryan might need. The HK Community Fund is the sponsor of this fund raising event. We expect more than 200 people to attend.

We are asking the Maplewood community to help us make this event a success by contributing items that we can raffle off – merchandise, gift certificates, sporting/concert tickets, services, etc. We will be placing the names of donors next to each raffle item and also announcing the donors during the event.

If you would like to help, you can respond to me through this e-mail or you can call Janey De Luca at 973-378-8906. We also will have members of our committee visiting local businesses over the next few weeks.

Many of you have been very generous over the years in support of our community and its residents. We have another opportunity to help someone in need. I know Ryan would appreciate your assistance.

Thanks.

Vic De Luca

MY LOVE PRIDE AND JOY

A Mother’s Love

seems like just yesterday
in amazement I said honey; look at what we created
Look at what I was blessed to carry for 9 months
there you were looking a little bit like the two of us
swaddled up and winking and smiling up at both of us

thinking how fast time flew for me to give birth to you
no dream could compare to you actually being here
a small hand grasping at mine had me gasping frozen in time
that's all I could whisper listening into echo's in a hall
Lord... I never met an angel before

such an honor to witness you grow right before my eyes
gods mercy and grace was a floodlight in my life
from a cuddly bundle of joy and pride to a curious energetic child
growing and glowing I enjoyed falling in love
watching your eyes twinkle and your dimples dance when you laugh
a young man now look at how times passed

and altho you may have quickly outgrew my lap and knees
my heart has plenty of room for you to grow up like a tree
you'll always be my baby but i see you as a young man
you went from car seats and high chairs to taking out garbage cans

A mothers love for her children is the most potent of potions
the true definition of unconditional love and emotions
I am too blessed to be stressed you are a gift from above
my children fit me like a glove designed to love and be loved
empowering me as a parent i was born to be their mother
